Alex Acuna may be one of the most successful drummers to come out of South America. Taking the move to Las Vegas in 1974 Alex has played with such artists as Elvis Presley, Diana Ross, Ella Fitzgerald and Whitney Houston. He made a part of Jazz history when he became both drummer and percussionist for one of the most innovative jazz groups of our time, Weather Report. He recorded two albums with the group: ‘Black Market’, and the highly successful ‘Heavy Weather’, the first Jazz-fusion album to sell one million copies.
Alex is also a valued session drummer and percussionist for recordings, television and motion pictures. His countless credits include diverse artists such as U2, Paul McCartney, Joni Mitchell, Roberta Flack, Carlos Santana and Christina Aguilera.
